How to get your British Cycling race membership and race licence

Sulis Scorpions Youth Cycling Club members need to organise 2 things before being able to enter a British Cycling registered race:

  1. British Cycling Standard Membership

  2. British Cycling Race Licence.

These are related but separate things, which can cause confusion. Here we tackle each in turn (also note the 'Fast Track' option at the end of this page):

·       British Cycling Membership:

o   As Sulis Scorpions Youth Cycling Club is affiliated with British Cycling, standard membership for Youth riders is free, for the first year. 

o   British Cycling race membership renews annually on the anniversary of the date you purchased it.

 

·       British Cycling Race Licence:

o   Full Race licenses are free to riders in all youth racing categories A-E who hold British Cycling standard membership.

o   Race licences renew annually on 1st January.

 

Obtaining British Cycling Membership and Race Licences:

Purchasing BC Race Membership and obtaining a Full Race Licence can be done in a single telephone call, by calling the British Cycling membership team on 0161 274 2010. Lines are open Monday – Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-3:45pm.

Steps:

  1. Call the British Cycling membership team on 0161 274 2010.

  2. Request Standard Membership.

  3. Inform them that the rider is a member of Sulis Scorpions YCC, a British Cycling affiliated club, this will provide the first year free.

  4. Ask for a Full Race Licence with auto-renewal.

Existing youth riders with British Cycling Membership can request a full race licence by calling the British Cycling membership team on 0161 274 2010. Lines are open Monday – Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-3:45pm.
