How to get your British Cycling race membership and race licence
Sulis Scorpions Youth Cycling Club members need to organise 2 things before being able to enter a British Cycling registered race:
British Cycling Race Membership
British Cycling Race Licence.
These are related but separate things, which can cause confusion. Here we tackle each in turn (also note the 'Fast Track' option at the end of this page):
British Cycling Race Membership:
As Sulis Scorpions Youth Cycling Club is affiliated with British Cycling, membership for Youth riders is free (Silver), or discounted (Gold), for the first year. More details on British Cycling youth membership
Bronze membership riders will be given a provisional race licence, but there are limitations on the events that will accept them.
Silver membership has the option of a full racing licence, and it is free to youth riders in the first year.
British Cycling race membership renews annually on the anniversary of the date you purchased it.
To obtain British Cycling Race Membership
Navigate to https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership
Select Race Silver membership
Use the promotional code NEWCMRA on the payment screen.
British Cycling Race Licence:
Full Race licenses are free to youth riders holding Silver race membership.
Bronze membership includes a provisional license, but this does have limitations as not all races will accept them.

Race licences are obtained by calling the British Cycling membership team on 0161 274 2010. Race licenses are valid per calendar year and expire on 31st December each year. This is because they are tied to age categories. It is therefore a good idea to request auto-renewal when ordering the race licence.
Existing youth riders with British Cycling Silver Race Membership can request a full race licence by calling the British Cycling membership team on 0161 274 2010. Lines are open Monday – Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-3:45pm.
The Fast Track Option:
Purchasing BC Race Membership and obtaining a Full Race Licence can be done in a single telephone call, by calling the British Cycling membership team on 0161 274 2010. Lines are open Monday – Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-3:45pm.
Steps:
Call the British Cycling membership team on 0161 274 2010.
Request Silver Race Membership (or upgrade to Gold for a fee).
Inform them that the rider is a member of Sulis Scorpions YCC, a British Cycling affiliated club. This will enable the discounts.
Ask for a Full Race Licence with auto-renewal (Free for youth riders with Silver membership).
