British Cycling’s Go-Ride network

Sulis Scorpions is an accredited member of British Cycling’s Go-Ride network, and runs a wide range of cycling activities for under-18s of all abilities.

Fun is at the heart of our high quality coaching sessions, and there is a clear pathway for progression. All our coaches are insured, hold a British Cycling qualification, and are DBS checked.

Traffic-free circuit

Club coaching sessions take place in the safety of the traffic-free circuit at Odd Down, Bath. Activities include a variety of games, which teach cycling skills and can be done on any bike. Parents have the peace of mind of knowing that their children are involved in a healthy, beneficial sporting and recreational activity organised by a child-friendly club affiliated to British Cycling.

Child welfare

As an accredited Go-Ride club, Sulis Scorpions have a child welfare officer and appropriately trained and insured British Cycling coaches who have attended good practice and child-protection workshops.

Where possible we put riders in age/ability appropriate coaching groups, and most training sessions finish with a lap of the circuit, to burn off any excess energy that might still be there. We also stage Go-Ride races from time to time, which are a great way to experience the excitement of bike racing in a supportive environment.

The Go-Ride programme is all about having fun, enjoying the freedom of cycling, and developing lifelong skills. That aside, most of the Great Britain cycling team’s biggest stars started out at a Go-Ride Club. Just like Laura and Jason Kenny!
